**EDIT: this post was written in January. It was never published as I was in pursuit of my before and after closet photos. I have accepted that I lost them. Trust me, it was a magical transformation. **

I know we are all collectively breathing a sigh of relief that the holidays are over…right? I love the festivities but it was time to wrap it up and I’m more than happy to return to regular programming.
While this techincally did not occur at the New Year, I simply cannot think of a better way to kick off your year with a clean slate. And by clean slate, I’m not talking about your diet or your morals, I’m talking about your CLOSET! Duh.
A clean closet is like a breath of fresh air. It relieves stress and anxiety and makes things run more smoothly. But how to get started? What to get rid of? What to keep?
Enter… The Frugal Fox. I could go on and on about this girl but let’s just say she is in the right profession. Now, anyone, including you, can go through your closet and start discarding. But what if someone was there to help you make logical style choices? Advice for dressing for your body type? Creating outfits you didn’t know you had? Check, check, check. I’ve cleaned out my closet so many times, only to put it back the same way as before and find a massive disaster by the end of that week.
Maddie showed me the best ways to organize my closet and dressers to make it functional… and guess what! Three-ish months later and my closet is still super organized.
There is something about having a second opinion there with you while you purge and debate over items. Maddie isn’t bossy, but she was very willing to speak up when a piece didn’t seem to fit my body type or had no real purpose in my closet. I totally needed that.
Now, when I walk by my closet, I smile. I feel refreshed when selecting outfits (usually I wear my pajamas… but hey, when I DO select outfits) and know where everything is. I somehow have much more space and I don’t question where to put things.
And honestly, the best part other than having a clean closet? She TAKES IT ALL. Yes, those garbage bags full of clothes that would have cruised around in my trunk for the next year aren’t even my responsibility now.
Get in touch with Maddie if you are in the Lincoln/Omaha or surrounding areas. Truly one of the best things I did for myself in the past 6 months!
